Prior to the first interview, candidates receive an email notifying them that Lavalier will be used. The notice explains what Lavalier does and allows them to opt out of AI-assisted evaluation for that role and any future roles at the same company.
Lavalier does not train or fine-tune AI models using customer data. Your data is used only to generate responses relevant to the interview and role.
The company using Lavalier owns both. See our Terms of Service for full details.
No. Lavalier does not make hiring decisions. It does not score, rank, or recommend candidates. The AI provides structured summaries and analysis to help your team evaluate candidates—but all decisions remain with your team.
Yes. Bias mitigation is built into Lavalier's AI prompts. Our prompts include explicit instructions to exclude protected characteristics from analysis. Our systems also flag discriminatory language and deprioritize off-criteria content. This work extends Textio's decade of bias research and responsible AI development.
Lavalier uses OpenAI, Anthropic, and Azure AI. For a complete list of subprocessors, see our DPA.
No. Lavalier does not augment candidate information with anything not provided directly by the candidate. We do not scrape public websites, purchase from data brokers, or aggregate external data.
All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+ and at rest using AES-256 encryption. Data is stored securely within the United States.
